Top Austin Vegan Eats
Going Vegan doesn't mean you have to give up the foods you love, in fact, you'll probably love your favorite comfort foods more! I have actually found that all the things I loved about southern comfort foods tasted even better once I went vegan. The food is so flavorful and tastes better than the classics we are familiar with. Not to mention it feels great to finish a meal knowing no animals were harmed in the process-yay!
Check out a list of my favorite places to eat in Austin, vegan and non-vegan restaurants, that are serving up some amazing plant-based fare!
Nestled in the heart of Austin, this majestic gem of a restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Mattie's at Green Pastures is an absolutely stunning property and I love the peacocks that stroll around the property too! My favorite vegan dishes here to eat are the Farmhouse Salad, Rainbow Carrots, and the Basmati Rice Bowl.
I lived in Austin 3 years before becoming vegan and let me tell you, being the foodie that I am, I have had every kind of breakfast taco that Austin has to offer...but The Vegan Nom, now that is hands down the best breakfast taco in town! Vegan or not, these tacos pack so much flavor they could seriously put the big chain taco restaurants here out of business. Pictured here are my favorites, the Jalisco and the Three Amigos. Make sure you make the Three Amigos Loco when you go! And remember, stop killing the planet... it's where we get our tacos from, go vegan!
Vegan fried chicken...say what!? Once I went vegan I'm not going to lie, one of the first thoughts that went through my mind was "No more Chick-fil-A!" but once I found Sundaze I was so happy! Their No Frick'n Chick'n Sandwich literally tastes like Spicy Chicken Sandwich at Chick-fil-A. I dream of this place!
I love breakfast and brunch. What is life without a good brunch. When I decided to go vegan another burning question was "Oh no I will miss out on Sunday Brunch". So not true! Bouldin Creek Cafe is serving up some mean vegetarian and vegan brunch fare. Their renedict is life! Oh, and you have to have the potato hash cake and vegan blueberry cornbread! The best thing about eating vegan is that your food comes out so fast, there's no meat to cook! #winning!
This quaint ramen restaurant on 6th street has some ramen that is out of this world! My favorite combination is their veggie miso ramen all vegan with miso + fruit and veggie broth, sprouts & fried tofu skin, scallions, chili threads, and chili oil. I personally like to add some seitan and avocado, yum!
I have been wanting to go to Citizen Eatery since it opened and just recently I got the chance to grab some dinner and drinks with a friend. The food is so delicious and light! Essentially everything on the menu is vegan or can be made vegan. AMAZING! We had their vegan queso with sweet potato chips which I would have never paired together but it was great. Along with a yummy tofu pesto sandwich and of course we had to have their pancakes. So good! I can't wait to go back!
Flower Child! The name alone makes me happy! The decor in this restaurant is so cute it reminds me of being at a cafe in France. They offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. Perfect for a lunch or dinner date with friends. My favorite's here are the brussels sprouts and tofu.
Sometimes the hardest thing about being vegan is trying to find late night options when you are craving comfort foods after a night out on 6th street. Arlo's has you covered. Their food is so good here I literally devour it. My favorite thing to order here is the Bac'n Cheeze Burger and a side of tots! My mouth is watering just writing about it. Seriously this is a must try vegan or not!
For the first time since I became vegan, it felt amazing to sit down and know I could order anything on the menu. The Beer Plant is a relatively new restaurant to the Austin food scene and it is so needed! It's a fully plant based restauraunt and their food is outstanding! The mac and cheese and cauliflower buffalow wings are a must!
It was one of those lazy days when we found Revolution Vegan Kitchen when ordering on Uber Eats. This was the first vegan place I had tried since giving up meat and once I had the notzarella sticks I knew I had made the right choice to go vegan. The food here is so flavorful! To the mac and cheeze, to the notzarella sticks, and especially their Texan Burger you will be in heaven by the end of the meal!
I can't even put into words how much I love Juiceland! Their Bam Bam Saturday special is absolutely amazing! Filled with fresh pineapple juice, bananas, mangos, almonds, hemp protein, coconut oil, and my absolute favorite-spirulina, it will have you feeling rejuvenated all day.
